Passive House Institute US

The mission of Passive House Institute US is to promote the knowledge required to design and construct super-low, zero- and positive-energy buildings using the Certified Passive House standard. "Energy performance needs to be elevated as a priority in quality design. With that in mind, Passive House is quite possibly the foremost building design option available to us today.

i3 Principal Prudence Ferreira serves as Acting President of the Passive House Institute US.

US Green Building Council
Integral Impact Inc is a corporate member of the US Green Building Council. i3 Principal, Prudence Ferreira is currently working with the USGBC to integrate the Passive House standard into the LEED rating systems. Ms Ferreira has also served as President of the USGBC's Redwood Empire Chapter. The Redwood Empire Chapter is a non-profit, membership organization providing green building and sustainability training, seminars and events.The REC's mission is to promote the design, construction and operation of buildings in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live, work and learn.

Build It Green

Build It Green is a non-profit membership organization whose mission is to promote healthy, energy- and resource-efficient building practices in California. They work with mainstream stakeholders in the housing industry to accelerate the adoption of green building practices.

Integral Impact Founder and Principal Prudence Ferreira serves on BIG's SF Green Building Professional Guild, supporting the creation of educational seminars and helping facilitate their presentation. Build It Green's associate councils are unique collaborative entities that represent key stakeholders needed to make green building standard practice in California. The councils help individuals and organizations become effective green building practitioners while leveraging their numbers and expertise to have a greater impact on the adoption of green building practices, products and technologies.

Marin BERST

The objectives of the Marin Green BERST (Green Building, Energy Retrofit and Solar Transformation) are twofold: First, to assist all Marin jurisdictions to adopt green building regulations, as similar as possible, for both new construction and remodeling, and second to recommend parameters for a comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy retrofit program for existing buildings.

Integral Impact Principal, Prudence Ferreira serves on the BERST Technical Advisory Committee, contributing to the creation of a package of Marin County Green Building Ordinance recommendations for BERST's Task Force of elected officials' consideration.

Affordable Comfort Institute

The Thousand Home Challenge is a collaborative grass-roots effort organized by the Affordable Comfort Institute to implement order-of-magnitude or ‘deep energy reductions’ in existing homes in the US and Canada. THC is designed to:

☐ Reduce total annual site energy consumption of existing North American homes by 75-90%.
☐ Develop indicators of home energy performance that are measurable and verifiable, easy to understand and use, and accommodate a wide range of climates, housing types, and fuels.
☐ Exemplify a performance-based ‘systems approach’ to improving the thermal comfort, health and safety, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and durability of existing homes.
☐ Assemble private, non-profit, community, citizen, trade and professional associations and governments into regional coalitions for achieving deep energy reductions in existing homes.
☐ Demonstrate that it is possible to achieve deep energy reductions through a combination of energy efficiency, renewable resources, community-based solutions, and behavioral choices.
☐Stimulate collaboration, networking, creative problem-solving, economic and workforce development, and innovative approaches to transforming the North American housing stock.

Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Association

The Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Association provides critical support in helping to build the capacity of the organic food trade to transition to integrated sustainable business models. The objectives of the FTSLA are to:

☐Develop trade-level benchmarking tools to measure and manage change.
☐Research + educate business leaders on constraints/risks of current business models.
☐Gain a deeper understanding of ways to mitigate + prepare for climate change /other risks.
☐Research + educate members on best practices for successful organizational change efforts—how to organize a green team, champion an effort, conduct sustainability and greenhouse gas audits, integrate sustainability into annual planning.
☐Research + educate members on solutions to substantive issues in the food trade—transportation, packaging, energy use, labor, water, etc.
☐Provide a neutral place to network + receive logistical help w/ developing innovative solutions that involve the supply-chain and cannot be achieved by one company alone.
